Belarus sends over 80,000 tns of dirty oil back to Russia
MINSK, May 27 (PRIME) -- Belarus has returned over 80,000 tonnes of chloride-contaminated oil to Russia via the Druzhba pipeline since May 24, state holding Belneftekhim said in a statement on Monday.
“Reverse transportation of dirty oil stored at the Mozyr dispatching station has started since May 24, 2019, to Russia’s Unecha station. As of 0:00 a.m. May 27, 2019, more than 80,000 tonnes of oil was sent from the Belarusian territory,” the statement read.
On May 24, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Kozak said that a road map had been agreed with Belarus to reverse around 1 million tonnes of poor oil through the Druzhba pipeline back to Russia, where it will be placed in storage facilities and then recovered.
The problem with the quality of oil coming from Russia to Europe across Belarus via the Druzhba pipeline appeared in mid-April. Good-quality oil deliveries resumed in early May, but there is still much dirty oil in the facility.
